After a year long wait finally Brunfelsia Nitida bloomed. What a heady fragrance of cloves and as per my younger son vanilla as well. A fragrance worth waiting for!

    Yay for brunfelsias!

Thank you for starting a new thread.

My Aloysia virgata is blooming because I finally potted it up into a larger pot (I've neglected it). Hoping it will get bigger and pump out more blooms.

Jasminegal, the Brunfelsia is lovely. Glad to hear you like it!

Robert, same exact situation for me and my Aloysia. I repotted it last month and wham! It's been happy ever since. I should put it in the ground but I'm not sure where. Space is limited and the yard is going to turn into a jungle :P

I will post some pictures after I get some more blooms. Brugmansia 'Rosalao' and 'Audrey Lea' are ready to burst into full flush any day now. They've been teasing me for weeks. Hoping Rosalao is as fragrant as I read it is.

Hoya compacta is blooming (as always) and I've got three umbels ready to pop on Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' and a big fat umbel on Hoya imperialis that looked like it would have opened tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

    Here it is:

Royal Hawaiian Purple opened tonight. I could smell it while taking pictures. Like cocoa/vanilla with syrup. Yummy.

Rangoon creeper is spreading its wonderful color and fragrance

    Single tuberose

    Unknown variety jasmine from etsy

Rosalao first blooms. Smell like cotton candy. Audrey Lea is still my most fragrant.

Audrey Lea before I pollinated her with Rosalao :) hoping it takes.

Royal Hawaiian Purple opened its third umbel.

Compacta is always blooming! One of my favorite plants.

Wow Tom! Let us know your results..excited to see your new brugmansia. And your hoyas are always pretty!

Thank you Jasminegal! I enjoy seeing your tuberose blooming. The bulbs I planted of the double one 'the pearl' would grow leaves but did nothing.

I'm currently growing seedlings of my cross Audrey Lea x Xena that just started to sprout after 17-20 days. I have 6 seedlings right now and I'm sure more are going to sprout soon. I also have 50 or more seeds from my cross of Audrey Lea x Dalai Lama but I haven't germinated them because I already have too many plants. I don't even know what I'm going to do with my current batch of seedlings once they grow up. I'm already in over my head but making more crosses. I just can't resist.

Xena went from a shrunken bloom to a monster overnight. I seriously did not expect her to get so big in the heat.

Hoya skinneriana must have opened yesterday afternoon. I was too busy checking imperialis to notice it! Imperialis still hasn't opened. It's like waiting for an Orchid to bloom..

Epihpyllum oxypetalum opened tonight. It's the second time it's bloomed this summer. One flower is soo fragrant. It bombarded me as soon as I stepped onto the porch. It smells more than 3 brugs blooming. It's one of my favorite plants.

The moment I've been waiting for is finally here! Hoya imperialis decided to surprise me today. The flowers are more beautiful than I ever expected. They are night fragrant so I will report back tonight. I'm soo happy!

Wow Tom! That's gorgeous.. I have been really lazy. Here are some of mine

    Soul sister rose

    Easy does it
    Brunfelsia lactea

    Jasmine supreme going strong

    Jasmine humile

    Rangoon creeper is just exquisite

And absolutely have to share this

I just noticed Oklahoma rose. Of course the form is perfect and the smell is divine.

So I went out late last night to check Hoya imperialis for scent and I was very surprised that it smelled like wintergreen or mint. The scent was candied like wintergreen lifesavers. An unusual and unexpected scent for a pink/red flower but very nice nonetheless!

Brassavola 'Little Stars' one lone flower

Grand Duke, a lovely little flower

Cashmere bouquet blooming nicely. I like the scent. I still haven't potted it up.

Hoya imperialis opened a second cluster. I'm in love with this plant

Sometimes you just gotta float a bunch of Passiflora x belotii blooms in a bowl and enjoy the fruity ginger scent.

Brunfelsia gigantea bloomed today with its first bloom and oh my! Robert I totally get it now why you love its fragrance :) With one bloom it smells that good....I can't imagine how fragrant it would be the whole plant in bloom!

Yay! So glad you like its scent. Definitely one of my favs.

Brugmansia 'Audrey Lea' might open a blossom soon. I don't want to jinx it but I've been anxiously waiting to sniff it. All the other buds aborted and it bloomed down in the basement over winter but it's not the same as blooming outside.

Robert, Audrey's probably just working out the kinks. I've never had bud drop from her but some blooms come out deformed in the heat while others look great. Her scent is fairly strong, stronger for me than rosalao and Xena. It's a little sharper smelling and not as yummy as the other two but still a good, clean scent. Her curling leaves are so strange and not very pretty though.

Brugmansia 'Golden Lady' still blooming singles. I love the form. Nice, curly twangers. Scent is moderate and pleasant.

Epillphyllum hookeri blooming nicely. Scent is light and sweet. Yummy, almost grassy.

It's been Hoya heaven around here lately. EPC-620 blooming for the second time this season. Love the night fragrance of jasmine and cinnamon.

Hoya imperialis opened its third umbel. This is the biggest one yet, 10 flowers!

Hey guys..just popped in to say hello! Same things are blooming at my end so nothing really new. Got my hands on a malichat so waiting for it to bloom :) How's everyone doing?

Hi Jasminegal, I'm doing good! :) it's all the usual suspects blooming for me too! I have lots of buds on my angel trumpets. Rosalao, Golden Lady, and Audrey Lea will be blooming soon. Mealy bugs are starting to colonize Xena, Audrey, and Shredded White. I hate those devils and I'm thinking of using systemic poisons for the first time in my life. I'll probably just spray them off because I can't stand the thought of using poisons. I repotted some orchid seedlings today so I hope they take off! How are you?

Doing good too Tom...another heat wave for us so extremely hot. Oh no..have you tried wiping the whole plant with Clorox wipes? It works like a charm. Too much work but if it saves you from using systemic worth a try!

That's a really good idea jasminegal and sounds very easy compared to other remedies, especially since the plants are small in pots. Thank you, I definitely want to try that! Sorry about the heat! It's been in the low 90s here so nothing out of the ordinary.

    Hello, friends!

Trying not to be lazy and participate. :)

First I'll start off with some positive news. One of my first two brugmansia plants I grew from seed is starting to open a flower! I got the mixed seeds from Fred Sommer years ago and finally sprouted them this spring. Only two plants have survived and one is blooming! Hoping it has an awesome scent.

Also Brugmansia 'Audrey Lea' is blooming up a storm. The blooms are beautiful and the scent is pretty good.

On a bummer note my Mandevilla laxa has once again set buds but then aborted them before opening them. Sigh. I guess I'll probably never sniff this plant. The whole plant will probably die like the last two or three have. Laugh.

Scent update on my brug baby. Smells pretty good! It's got a higher sweet note like Charles Grimaldi. Can't complain!

Robert, your Audrey blooms are spectacular. Mine's covered in buds. What's your brug baby look like when it opens? Can't wait to see

Thanks, Tom! Audrey's first bloom looked terrible but these are knocking it out of the ballpark.

Here's a pic of my brug baby this morning. Still thrilled that it has a good scent!

Wow, Robert! That's a fine looking brug. What is the final color, white or yellow? You might even need to register that one day ;) A nice chubby double with a good scent is always a good thing lol. I hope I get something good from my seeds. I only have a few seedlings that grew or sprouted and only 1 is growing good. Most do die off.

My Audrey isn't doing the best. She's about to bloom but she dropped a couple buds, probably from mites and mealies. I just don't have time to take care of my plants right now. I'm thinking of culling the herd.

Thanks, Tom. It's definitely yellow. I know you can't tell what brugs will do on their first blooms but it does look promising.

Sorry about your Audrey. Mine looked terrible all summer. Surprised it looks so good right now.

Robert, from the pictures, it looks a lot like Golden Lady, in form and color. I can't wait to see it in full flush! Could you show a picture of the full plant? I still can't believe you grew it from a seed and bloomed it so quick. Great job. Hoping I can bloom my seedlings that quick. I'd like to get a flower that look likes a double Xena, nice and waxy with a wavy edge and quilted look. That would be like a dream come true.

We'll see if it survives the mites but so far it has! I lost one seedling to the jerks.

Wow, Robert! That's a nice, big plant! Even the leaves look like golden lady. I think one of my seedlings is already getting mites. The leaves look burnt, even in the shade. The classic might damage look. I guess I'll have to mist it more often. Growing brug from seeds isn't all it's cracked up to be.
