There are several mail order places in USA shipping is not bad. What are you looking for? Seedling? one to three yr old Obesum or Abrabicum? Older plant ? Something to prune or graft or just let be. Do you know the soil and heat needs? Then there are overseas markets. I don't like ebay.

I am looking for and older one(1 year plus) , I was thinking Obesum and was hoping to look at them in person. Not looking to graft but prune possibly. I am not a big fan of mail order but I will if I have to. Are there certain times of the year that they are more available?

Also, this would be the first one I have ever owned but I find them interesting, hopefully they are not too difficult to keep alive.

Try a search for something like 'Nurseries selling Adenium in Michigan'.

Seems I suggested this before: I don't know why they don't think of NURSERIES, far better & more reputable than EBay. Can it really be that folks no longer know that Plant Nurseries sell plants?

I tried the nurseries around here and most do not sell tropical plants and of the couple of places that do carry tropicals ,do not have Adeniums.

Fruitbasket Flowerland on 28th in KENTWOOD (there's also one on 28th st in Wyoming- good, but not as good as the Kentwood location.) They have such a big huge houseplant greenhouse. I haven't been lately, but they never disappoint and I got my dessert rose there.

I was just there and they do not have any either,I even went to all three of their stores with no luck. I asked and was told that they will see what they can do. I thought I had seen them there in the past too.

I buy plants online ALL THE TIME, never any issues.

I bought mine on eBay.

I've bought on ebay in the past many times & have not been unhappy with my purchases...however, sellers often sell plants on the decline. I got suckered once or twice because I'm attracted to older, more mature specimens.

It's definitely more expensive & if I can help it, I prefer to prowl the big box stores. I got lucky at Walmart just today, but I'm sure it's because I'm in Daytona Beach at the moment.

I live in NY & the few Adenium I've found were pitiful, infested with mealies & on the decline. I think it might be the area. They were very very difficult to come by in NY & I searched high and low.

I did end up buying online to start my collection and I think I may have finally lucked in to ONE locally, which I proudly chose from a whopping stock of about 3

OP, wishing you the best in your search, don't give up & unless you dream of a particular style, keep searching locally. I've noticed the forms found in big box stores are more reminiscent of the ones I used to covet online but found too rich for my blood.

You could try to follow the supplier chain....I'm assuming my walmart plants came from http://www.costafarms.com/collections/desert-escape because the plastic pots say 'desert escape'...don't know if this will help or not, but you could look them up and maybe track down a retailer in your area.

I found one locally! But I am still on the hunt. Costa Farms supply a lot of the big box stores here but I was told that different areas get different plants and they cannot(or will not) specail order plants,

No way!!! Really? that's awesome!! Where did you end up finding your plant?...careful, because they are not easily found in my area as well, I tend to hoard them once found =D

I wonder if you could find out from Costa Farms where adeniums were delivered in your area to narrow your seach....I expect that info might be difficult to get though, unless you get a super helpful operator!

Someone was selling one on craigslist and got it,I paid $20 and drove an hour to get it. I was told that they owned for 3 years and bought t when it was 2 years old supposedly. They also said that it has dark flowers. Good, bad ,or otherwise....... I bought it and now am even more determined to find more,I will call Costa to see what happens.

Nice find, especially with the dark flowers rather than standard pink! Not to deter you from looking for more locally, but isn't it getting to the end of the Adenium growing season in your location? I'd be surprised if you find any in stores until next spring. I didn't even see that many at Home Depot yesterday, and we can grow them year round down here.

Yes it is definitely the end of season here,Walmart is clearing out alot of their outdoor plants. I figured that they might show up as bonsai or flowering house plants. I was surprised yesterday that the local grocer had 4 types of Hoyas and large hanging cactus (Rhipsalis ?), from Costa Farms. Unusual for around here to find even those.

If you are ever near Canton,MI check out the Ikea there.

I have seen adeniums for sale but it’s not available at alltimes

Right now they are selling money tree of all different sizes : from the small 3” pots to giant 10” pots

That's awesome. I always check ours when we go, not that I need more plants, but it makes my day in an irrational way to see them for sale in unexpected places!!

Kind of like an Easter egg only I (& I'm expecting people I've never met in person) can appreciate!!

I would have never thought of ikea,now I will have to look next time I go or make my daughter look when she goes which is often.

I dont want to raise your hopes up too much, but I got my adenium from

Ikea several years ago and it is doing well.

Actually a great plant for michigan, sheds all its leaves in winter and

goes dormant. I keep it in the basement and bring it outside in Spring.

It blooms in June-July.
