Organic way to combat crabgrass?

Hi, unfortunately our front lawn has filled in with crabgrass after we tried to reseed a bare area last spring. My husband really wants to have an organic lawn and doesn't want to use any chemicals. Is it possible to do anything to fix this problem this fall and next spring? I read that crabgrass dies in the fall so would it be possible to use corn gluten meal next spring? Would overseeding this fall help?

We have been trying to use good methods like putting down organic fertilizer in the spring, watering (probably not enough though), and mowing high. However, our front lawn is very hilly and I think that has contributed to a lot of our problems. We are totally new to lawn care so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
