I have seen them on my Oak trees. I believe that it is an Asp & It may be very toxic.

What is an Asp? At this point I am not even sure it is an insect, and google didn’t give me any results.

Not an asp caterpillar....rest easy. It's a Fuzzy oak gall resulting from a specific type of gall making wasp.

Iris, look up Asp stinging caterpillars. They have venomous spines and pack a wallop. You need to know what they look like.

Don’t worry, no touching anything until I know what they are. I looked at Flannel and Puss caterpillars, but they all looked “well groomed” and you could tell they are caterpillars. Thank you so much, on to looking up a fuzzy oak gall. One sticky note less! I should buy stock in them by now.
