Does your counter have white in it...the last pict. Looks “warm” not white?

Hi Heather, the counters and backsplash are both nice but not together. The splash pattern is fighting with the counter pattern for me. In this case, I would have done a simple backsplash in the lightest color from the counters. That would allow the counters to take the main focus. Sorry, I'm clueless about painting over the backsplash...just doesn't sound good. I'm not a pro...see what they can suggest.

Does your first photo show the true colors better than the last photo?

The issue isn't the color, it's the business. The marble chevron with your countertop is making it look busy. It's not horrible, so don't feel you have to change it. But don't paint it. Painted tile just never looks great, so unless it's a very short-term solution don't bother. I would replace it with a solid colored tile (can even be chevron again), and also remove the 4 inch countertop piece.
