outdoor elements

There's not much protection against the elements where this door would be placed. Will it withstand continuous rain and snow with minimal coverage?

Kimberly, this is a great question! Minimal coverage is not good and we do not recommend our mahogany doors for that application.

No traditional wood door manufactured out of mahogany, oak, fir, pine or alder would not do well in harsh sun and rain conditions that you describe, especially with a minimal roof or overhang.

In our industry nobody gives much of a warrantyon stained wood doors that are exposed, and the warranties have lots of exclusions for the conditions you have noted.

However, we also manufacture all our doors out of accoya wood. And because this "special" wood does not expand or contract, warp, split, or deteriorate for up to 50 years, there is no fear of the sun or rain ruining these doors. Accoya wood doors are about 25% of all our door orders and we love to make doors out of this wood.

Go to or visit our website to read about accoya wood and it's applications.

The accoya wood stains up very nicely so the door will look almost identical to the mahogany doors that are shown.

Unfortunately we do not sell our accoya door line on Houzz. You would have to contact us directly to discuss or make a purchase. Thank you.
