You can't go wrong with tile. In the event of moisture / water - ceramic tile works best.

You can do wood if you put in a subfloor. I've used both Dricore and Platon under ¾" T&G plywood. I wouldn't put wood directly over the concrete.

Your location will dictate material. A basement suite in Nebraska is going to appreciate carpet or laminate better than tile. A basement in Arizona is going to want tile because of the cooling effect.

Giving advice in a vacuum isn't something that can be done easily. And porcelain tile is better for basements than ceramic because the porosity of ceramic is HIGHER than porcelain. 'Tenting' can occur with ceramic tile due to moisture up-take with the tiles. It happens more often than you think.

We did Natural Cork (brand) and carpet in our last house in the basement. The cork was downright luxurious. But I was disappointed in how easily it got dinged up. It was a floating floor with a membrane underneath.

We just installed vinyl wood look tile in our basement (new build). Looks great. Hoping it holds up as well as the LVT we installed in a gut Reno office remodel on concrete slab a few years ago. Both are glue down.

We have laminate on the floors in the temporary house we live in now (which we own). Never again. Very disappointing product for the price point.
