Stush’s ‘Moonshine’

I still think this is an unique sport of ‘’Moonshine’ found by Stush. Seems smaller than normal ‘Moonshine’ and maybe with extra leaves per rosette, sometimes growing like a large hahni. Different. Who else ha this and your thoughts? Study? Neat plant.

My (stush moonshine)'s taken some time to send out a pup. In spring it sent out just one, but a very big pup.
It's growing quickly now, this pictures from 3 weeks ago, and it's almost the same height as the parent. I received it in September.
I really like how it looks and can't wait for it to have tons more pups over the years.

This Moonshine came home in mid Spring. It does not have the colors of the one above. It does seem attractive to Katydids, though. This was just the first. I would find them with their heads stuck down between the leaves. This plant has a big pup, that came out of nowhere. Its biggest leaf is broken in the middle as it was fallen upon by a man. This plant has had so much trauma. Replanted, knocked over, replanted. I got nervous, replanted. I got nervous again. Replanted again, tonight. Now it's home. Everytime I see the roots, they have grown so much! I would not cry if my plant developed darker bands, or if a pup gets them. I would like to welcome any little oddball event to add to my small collection. Collection might be too big a word.

I had a moonshine with the horizontal markings a few years ago. It is so pretty when the new growth comes out. I don’t think mine was any smaller than normal though.

Oh, okay. Yours is very nice. Doesn’t have any leaves turning dark. You have done some amazing growing with the plants I sent you.

Thanks Barb, but it was already a pup from yours. I just put it in it's own pot. Do you want one back when I re-pot?

Shush do you grow this side by side with “normal” ‘Moonshine’? I think it is definitely unique.

Stush, Sure, save me a pup. It’s fun to pass them back and forth. Btw, that asahi is doing fine, growing. And showing the lighter colored variegation. Thanks again!

Woodnative, No, I gave out all my regular Moonshine.

Barb, Got it. Maybe next week. Also my Asahi is back to normal with yellow stripes in leaves. Just saw 4 more pups breaking the soil. Looks like next year I'll give some more out. I just hope they don't send up a bloom stock and finish themselves.

Finally got to re-pot my moonshine yesterday. Letting cuts dry some and shipping out Monday morning.

Very happy with way roots was growing in my super wet water soaked pot. With all the record breaking rain this season. My Golden Hahnii would rot over night kept that way.

I wonder if this has a separate cultivar name. It certainly should as it grows differently than normal 'Moonshine'.

Thinking back, I bought that plant at Pike Nursery. I don’t think it even had an ID tag. I do wonder if it has another name. I am happy to get a new start from Stush!

The Moonshine that the pup came from was normal. Taller, solid silver and wide leaves. Still got the wide leaf but green banding and smaller growth. I did get a few reversals and cut and gave out. keeping only the ones I liked. Not exactly like the Brazilian Moonshine which is very unstable. New pups being regular silver. Which makes me believe it could be chemical induced.

In the first photo shown above, it is a reversal. All silver and may be taller growing, but only a pup now.

My new moonshine is doing well Stan. Both pups are growing too. I have another piece of moonshine, solid silver. They may be a different variety.

Well that's where they say they come from. (Who's they?) Sports start out as different looking pups.
