No, the coil must be mounted the correct way. You have to remove some of the material between the mounting screws for clearance. Much like some stator installs. The paper should be in the box for instructions. found it:

didn't get any instructions about removing any material between mounting screws but I can see I'll have to grind some of it off to install it right. I didn't think it would work upside down ,but I thought I'd ask. Thanks for you're help tom.

I'm getting no fire from the new coil , swapped good coil from right side to the left, no fire. swapped new plugs around, no fire. new coil has 7.05 ohms resistance, the right side that fires has 4.85 what could be the problem?

Make sure that the air gap is set correctly. Remove the ground wire from the coil and try again.

There is a diode in the harness that is between the coils. Bear that in mind when you check the harness for ground.

tried again this morning checked gap, disconnected ground, no luck.

got to be something on the left side because when I switched sides it don't work, what about the diode,

if the coil doesn't fire when I remove the ground wire,what would it be?

It should still fire at .014, but it should be narrower. I set at .010, but .012 is at the high end of the spec. With the wire off at the coil and no spark at the other end, I would have to ask your testing procedure. If you are basing this on the cylinder not running, we could be dealing with something else, such a valve train issue.
