Arrrrgh...the rain

So i am up early on a Sarurday, dressed, mower batteries all charged, repellent applied, mower out of garage, i mow a swath about 5 ft x 20 of the very back of my yard which has not been mowed in over 2 months cause it is too wet and suddenly the sky rainth down again. Grrrrrrrrr. Mower is now back in garage, batteries back on charger, the back part of the yard is going to stay waist high for another week, i think i should of stayed in bed.

I did the same thing Pea,...out of bed over an
hour ago, full of energy, optimistic about the coming day, -
the birds cheering me on in the trees,...mango's all gone so now can
focus 100 % on my 9,000 sq ft lawn !

Checked the oil/gas on my hefty Ariens riding mower, backed it out, lowered the
cutting deck. On with the loud, rythmic, dual cutting blades and off I
go, - with my Panama straw hat on, pretending I was Gary Cooper !
Well,.. I made about a 30 ft cut, and then I felt it ! Rain drops,..only
a few, very gentle but the gathering clouds above, the birds shutting up, and the slightly increasing wind whispered,.. " " Hey Dufus ",..

I shot back " My NAME IS JOFUS !! "

" OK Jofus, why don't ya cool it for awhile ? Stash the mower, prep the
breakfast cereal with all those luscious fresh mango
slices on top,...then settle out on the lanai and watch the world go by.
Do the lawn mowin' later, gator ! "

" Bottom line, you say you have nothing to do, yet you have lots to do !!
And you're retired in SW Florida yet ????

    GGGGeeezzzzzz,..and you are COMPLAINING ??? "

Ya see i'm not a retired in florida kinda gal...i'm a born in florida hacking out a living kinda woman so got things to do and in the summer it is too hot to brave the heat so and early morning mow on saturday and sunday is usually the par for course. The backyard is saturday and the front is sunday.

I expect the evenings to be rained out but if i get a nonrain eve i might get a little extra mow time in. I did manage to go out and mow a bit more this eve but the grass is so thick and high out there it is sucking the batteries dry in no time. So i'm back inside hiding from the skeeters once again.

I have new neighbors across the street, just arrived today, and i have been trying to sneak a peek on who they are so yard work was a good excuse to toodle around hoping to catch a glimpse but so far no luck. But the skeeters attacking my face kinda put an end to my casual weed pulling and new neighbor oogling.

Right now I'm very jealous of anyone who's actually getting rain. For weeks now it rains like heck on the mainland and out here it clouds up and thunders very dramatically--we've had two big palms struck by lightning in the past month--but it just doesn't rain. We had about a four-minute drizzle yesterday and that's all in several weeks.

Especially bad because they've been switching our complex from our own outdated water plant to city water, so the sprinkler system doesn't work at all right now. FPL put in some really nice big shrubs this week where they tore out our hedge when they put the new power poles in and I've been bucket watering 60 gallons morning and evening since the hose won't reach anywhere near there.

You can be jealous of me, not that I hadn't been dry as a bone up until these last few days—it appeared to be raining nearby, just not exactly on my place.

I got the front yard finished but the back is still a partly mowed mess and i can't mow til the batteries recharge and by then the backyard will be bathed in sun. So if the rain holds off this evening maybe i'll give another try. We won't talk about the ditch as it is full of water and has been all summer...opps was that a rumble of thunder i just heard?

I remember drought years. Thank you for the rain.

This is the rainiest summer i remember in a long time. The only time i remember rain sitting a long time in the ditches was when there were tropical storms coming ashore. This is just constant rain. There will be no mowing this eve as it is pouring out there right now.
