My swingset butternut squash

This is the first year I moved it to my kids' old swingset. I tried them on a cattle panel arch last year, but they didn't seem to like it. The cucumbers absolutely love the arch though. I lined the swingset with concrete reinforcing wire. I'm convinced that some vining plants each prefer a particular gauge wire to hold on to. The squash grew up and over the top, so I added a canopy of reinforcing wire over the top, held up by a couple tall shepherd hooks. It's all doing great. And the plus side (even though it might be a total coincidence), is that since I tried growing these vertically, I haven't seen a single squash bug. :) (or maybe it's the fact that I quit growing zucchini in the garden?). These aren't as prolific as when grown on the ground, but the ground keeps getting further and further away from my arms, the older I get. ;)
