Live with it a while before making a change. Personally (and I'm not a pro), I prefer the natural oak unpainted.

You might consider adding hardware to the drawers and doors -- white knobs bought w/the look of your granite in mind.

The cab color looks good with the granite on my monitor. Since it might be tough to find a cream that goes with all of the other finishes, I'd choose the darker stain option.

I agree, would add pulls, maybe oil rubbed bronze, ditch the lucite behind the stove, remove blinds if possible, add a cute rug. There's probably other things that need your attention and this kitchen is nice.

I agree with the others. It looks nice now, and that grainy wood will be a bear to stain or paint. Which means it will cost really a lot to stain or paint.

Hello, first congratulation on the new house. If it was my kitchen I would do what we call a Refacing option. Which is keeping the cabinets but getting new doors and drawer fronts along with finishing the visible sides/structural of the cabinets. With this option you will be able to pick out new door profile and most importantly pick the color of your choice such as cream/off white with different shade options that would match the granite and backsplash. Doing this project with your cabinets will be budget friendly and opens up the color option for you to make your kitchen look new without changing the counter or backsplash.

I believe that you really want to change them, so I would if I were you. Either way would look nice. If stain, do some mock-ups to be sure of the look. Same with paint. After they are done, think about pulls. Have fun and repost when done.

I like your kitchen as is, but here's another option: paint the island base. This is often done. Paint it the color of the backsplash.

I agree with others, if you want to keep the cooktop and the backsplash I think that is the best color to match.. No need to change, may be if you want to enhance or lighten it up you can use white accessories, and use some proper lighting.. I think it would look amazing! Your house is beautiful already!

My parents had a similar color wood cabinets. They used the Rustoleum Transformation kit in cabernet:

Refaced them,although that's not cost-effective as someone mentioned. I had those cabinets and had refaced everything to bamboo. Have similar granite as you have and the combo is great.
Cost was $17000 for a small kitchen in Calif. Bay Area where everything is expensive.

I think if you paint or stain them darker, they'll be different but not better.

By the way what is that piece of glass behind the stove? Can it stand high temperatures?
