The blooms are huge too !

Thanks so much for posting this Lilyfinch. I do have Roberto Capucci but he has been terribly neglected for two+ years. He spent too long in his one gallon pot then was upgraded to temp 5 gallon pot where he is still languishing, no new food and only survival water. I've only had maybe 3 flowers. My fault, and I plan to replant this fall. Your pictures show me he is well worth it. And I guess my contribution is that he is a survivor. He's hanging in there, waiting for attention rather than dwindling away from neglect!

Mossy , that is wonderful you have had yours for so long. It’s a testimony to how nice this rose is because I’d imagine it would be gone by now if not . Your photos are spectacular!! Wish I had better than my iPhone for pics.

Mary it’s time for him to show you what he can do! I hope you can get him planted. I have a whole mess of potted roses doing the same that desperately need my attention. Gotta get on it ! Roberto is totally worth it

These photos make me happy! I have him, but not in the ground yet and no blooms so far. Thank you, Moses, Lilyfinch, Mossy and Diane. I heard his name from Diane a few years ago, but just ordered him this year. Every photo of him is beautiful and it's encouraging to hear he's a good one.

Mossy - what size is he for you? AFter 9 years you can give us a good idea of his dimensions, at least where you are. Most of my roses are in pots but I have a space opening up in the ground and his color would be good there, if he would fit. You and Lilyfinch have certainly shown he is worth the space. And how is his repeat? Thanks.

Now I see why everyone keeps ordering roses even though they don’t have a place for them!

I really like the color of this one.

Maryc - Roberto gets up over my head, about 6, 61/2', even with pruning. He has had to contend with a large clematis which hogged his root room and his sunshine, but I moved that out last summer, so he's enjoying his freedom, but still is no bigger width wise than an average HT. He doesn't take up a lot of room. His repeat is OK, could be better, at least for me.

Thanks for the pictures mossy and Lilyfinch. A good reminder to either repot or put in the ground! I keep hoping for things to cool off a little.

Love Barni roses. No room for Roberto otherwise I would have him. Nice to have him be shown off. I don't think Barni roses get enough attention here in the states for the great roses they are.

You are so right, mustb. I'm glad this thread popped up again. I just took out Celestial whose one spring bloom was not spectacular, and another three tree peonies that had reverted to root stock. So, there are several places Roberto could wind up.

Mossy, I really appreciate your detailed description, but you're a couple zones different than here. Anyone in z5 grow him? I MUST get this poor guy in the ground soon.

I am planning to order Roberto Cappucci from Roses Unlimited along with a couple others next week (Chartreuse de Parme?). Will keep you posted on my progress. If mine grows and blooms like yours it will exceed my expectations. Yours is stunning.

Coincidentally, I finally got mine potted up to his new permanent 15 gallon pot. I'm trying not to expect too much this year. He's got a lot of catching up to do after 3 or 4 years neglect. Decided the one open spot in the ground wouldn't quite do. Fingers crossed!

Lilyfinch, are you thinking about Celestine? I don't see Celestial on their site. Mine is/was a pale pink Alba. I put up with it because of it's historical significance - dated back to 1739, great strong fragrance, totally disease free, but it bloomed less and less every year. It was right at the entrance to the garden and pushing poor Wildeve over and making her lopsided.

Oh whoops flowers I messed that up . Not to mention Celestine is new in 2018... I thought the color was pretty. How is wild eve for you ? I don’t have that one . I have and love eglantyne

My Wildeve hasn't been a good bloomer, Lilyfinch, but other people say the opposite. She was shaded and leaned on by Celestial. She's got free reign now, so I hope she will be happier. The blooms are really really beautiful, so I hope there will be more of them.
