I'm in SE Michigan. I've been working on cloning these rhodies for 6 or 7 years! I had created these from a branch of the mother plant, but when I potted them I didn't have a good soil mix and had them packed too tightly so they were stunted(but survived) for several years, finally started growing good last year with better soil and potting.
My question is, when do I unpot? They are currently in a very protected spot, but I plan to plant them(actually, it's a single root ball and I plan to leave it that way) in a spot where they will have to survive hard freezing. Are they big enough? Should I unpot now, or wait until spring?
Thanks very much for any advice!
