We are a Jandy Pro Edge Dealer and have been using the nicheless LED lights that utilize an 1.5" PVC pipe over the traditional wet niche housing. The smaller lens lights allow for an even distribution of light when spaced properly. Standard lights tend to have hot spots and shadows and must be set 18"-24" below the water level to meet the electrical code. Nicheless lights can be set at close as 4" from the surface.

Jandy purchased the light company some time ago and made improvements on quality. I've used the previous and original models(about 12 years ago) which were problematic. I do think bugs have been worked out though.
