Reasons this forum has stagnated

I've been amazed at how few people have posted here considering it's summertime and most adeniums should be very happy.

Personally, seeing this place like a ghost town has caused me to spend more time on other social media platforms. Where are you getting your adenium fix? Reddit? Facebook? Instagram?

Hi Dain, I agree with you, this forum hasn’t felt the same over the last couple of months.

No offence to anyone, but.... it used to be full of people I knew (where did you all go).... now all of a sudden there are so many new names that I don’t know, that I don’t always feel comfortable commenting on posts :(

It used to feel like home....now it feels like I’ve walked into a strangers house by accident.

I believe Houzz’s new format with the cross posting to multiple plant forums and the problems with trying to post threads, has driven many away.

i don’t do Facebook etc, so this forum is still the only one I participate in.

So I’m still here, but sometimes just lurking in the background now.

I love the people here and will be around until I die ...keep on posting folks!

I love this forum, but I don’t have much to show, lol. Most of my plants are new, nothing exciting. I’m on a few adenium groups on FB , but I don’t think they are better. Not many deep discussions, just little here and little there.... yeah our pros are not here as much, but I’ve learned a lot from all of our wonderful members. Where else everyone going for adenium fix? I’m also member of two other forums that are great, but they are in Russian and Ukrainian languages. Let’s stay positive and keep it going!

Hi Rachel, I do not do Facebook either and am always being told that I am missing out on the great and wonderful world of it . I am new to Adeniums but not so new in the other forums.

I've been on this forum for several years. There has been a tremendous amount of information and pictures shared from all over the world. I hate that its become a second choice for information. The latest update with Houzz has made the attempt to use this forum less demanding and Facebook more appealing. Ladies and gentleman, FB is only as offensive as you allow it to be. There are several very useful adenium sites on FB and a ton of information. I will continue to monitor this forum, but only a few times per week. Where I'm on FB daily now.

I had been on this forum for a few years, but had been absent for the last couple of growing seasons...life happens =0)

I don't Facebook and have no intention of starting, that being said, life is all about change & I'm doing the best I can to roll with it. Easier said than done, the older I get, but all I can do is the best I can.

This is an open forum =)

So when I see a post that I can either contribute to or that strikes me in one way or another, I comment. Sometimes I recognize old-timers, sometimes not. I appreciate everyone who comments though, often, I find I forget what I already knew, lol!

Edited to add: I'm not thrilled with the changes in format from GW to houzz, but trying to get used to it as it's not going to change back =D

It‘s nice to see some regulars commenting here, and nice to meet some newcomers :)

Can I just say, my comment above was not meant to offend. I’m just one of those people that needs to feel comfortable in my environment before I can join in on the fun. Happy growing everyone.

I don't think anyone would be offended in reading your comment, myself included =)

It was an honest comment & I appreciate it for what it is.

I totally get that people make the place. Really wish there were emoji's, cause I really am smiling as I write, lol!!

I don't think anyone has been offended. Like hookilau stated, life happens,

I rarely check this forum during the winter, but do to see our friends from Australia posting pics and counting the days until our spring begins.

There have been highs and lows in every forum, and this one will return.

    I sure miss Marie's posts!

Hopefully, she will be able to post after her carpal tunnel surgery.

Lonnie, I too miss Marie’s posts! Watching her Adeniums flower every year was always a highlight. There were others here with beautiful collections that we have missed seeing this year too.

Please do check in here during your Winter.... Myself, Agartta, Pete and other Aussies will try our best to post as many beautiful flowers during our Spring/Summer as we can.

Hookilau, Lol, emoji’s would make it easier :D

I have not posted much this year and as yet all of my Obesum grafted plants have just started producing blooms. All of my Arabicums and Thai Soco’s have bloomed twice.

The times I have come on to the site. I enjoy reading what others are doing and post occasionally. There have been many changes w Houzz and this could be a reason for people not posting? I do not go onto FB much at all anymore.

I understand that the site is slower (if you want to call it that), but we cannot forget that life gets in the way sometimes or other issues that keep people away. If everyone was to stop, then we only hurt ourselves.

I like to think of it as Friends just caught up in a busy life, family responsibilities and other interests in their lives. Then when they do come back onto the Adenium Forum. Like not seeing a friend for along time and you pick right back up in conversation as though you have seen each other very often.

This is a wonderful group. We need to keep it going.

Yes! This post brought a lot of you out of the woodwork. Good to see everyone!

I'm just lurking as I have nothing to contribute right now. I was hoping one of my older seedlings I started last year was going to bloom this summer but no go, I guess.

My collection is "tiny" and uninteresting as I just have one desert rose from Lowe's and the other one from Trader Joe's, and then the seedlings from that one successful cross I made between the two back in 2016.

I have 14 older seedlings I started last year and not having lost a single one over the winter, I sowed the rest of the seeds this spring so there's a lot of them now which was probably a mistake because there's... a lot of them now. But at least my curiosity is satisfied now because I was hoping one of them was variegated and none of them appear to be.

Hope everyone's doing great this summer/winter.

I joined some Adenium groups but I am not seeing any action so back here I am. Although other plant topics have lots of activity. Maybe I missed the right groups...

Dar; do you have questions or what to share pics? We'd love to see pics

I've just haven't had time due to overly busy at work (everyone wants to get into their new homes before school starts) and finally school started :) Earlier in the month, it had been 4 days in a row that I didn't make it out to my greenhouse and I lost some plants:( due to the heat here in southeast Tx. I really need a fan in there. Hope to catch up on plants and this forum soon.

    Happy Gardening, Jeannie :)

I'm still here glowing pink singles and spider mites it's looking good for this summer i have lots that I'm waiting to bloom i have one very similar to your last bloom Rachael but it was not worth posting its a new one from orient adenium, i have slowed up abit also slowly getting back to work but i still check every day I'm not going anywhere i have even tried that new thing called face book lol it just dont have the same feeling with people giving stupid advice. i find stupidity is quickly weeded out on this forum and no or very little insulting answers nothing is treated as stupid we have gotta learn sometime. :×) ps i have got 100 + seedlings in also in different mix straight fine coconut choir they r ripping best ever.
