This was sold by Komoriya and I haven't seen one offered for some time. I actually have a tiny one that I've had for years that has never bloomed for me, but shrinks a little each year!

If they do offer them again, be prepared to sell your first born to afford one!! ;-)

I have always wondered why certain Komoriya bulbs shrink over the years. Based on observation of multiple bulbs of the same Komoriya varieties, I'm guessing that it may be a matter of luck in obtaining a healthy bulb that can readily adjust to different growing conditions.

I worry about folks who are paying a small fortune for 1-2cm bulbs. Komoriya original cultivars are gorgeous. However, overall, it is difficult to get their bulbs to thrive. Some medium or large bulbs can take years to flower. I can't imagine the probability of such tiny bulbs surviving and making it to flowering size with anything less than ideal growing conditions.

We are very fortunate to have purchased Japanese bulbs before the current buying frenzy and size decline commenced. Happily, my Garasu Zaiku (aka Glasswork) from 2013 and many others are thriving. When last seen listed on eBay in 2017, a flowering size bulb sold for about $57. The increase in price and decrease in size subsequent to approximately July 2017 is shocking!

I've been thinking that those of us with offsets of Komoriya bulbs who live in the US should start trading. I don't mean to exclude those who live in other countries. The USDA is making trading bulbs (and even seeds) more and more difficult. For example, after years of buying seeds from Brazil, since May orders have been seized and destroyed. :-(

I am expecting a small quantity of seeds with Garasu Zaiku as a pollen parent. And I have had some good luck getting seeds from South America to South Korea. In addition, so far I have had good luck sending seeds to the USA so far. Although I have only 2 Komoriya bulbs, I am happy to share cross seeds when I have enough to share.

Blanca, have you considered another time, having the seeds sent to someone else, me for example, and then I could easily repackage them and send them off to you?

On the subject of the Komoriya bubs, what is the significance of the change of names for Sept Rose Line know being called Sept-6 Rose Line; is this a different clone of the original Sept Rose Line? And to think that I "had" one that I paid peanuts for compared to the prices now!!

I've told this before but I had one that was good sized that played pet rock with roots for at least 3 years and I finally planted it out in one of my barrels and "someone" pulled it out, label and all, (the only one they took). It had finally grow 3 beautiful stripped leaves and I was so excited!! Two legged or four legged animal? I didn't know squirrels or deer could be so selective, being partial to striped leaves?

Anyway, I will not buy another, at these prices of $300 to $400+, unbelievable!!

I too am thankful for all the bulbs I did buy over the years when the prices were doable!!

To me, it appears that Komoriya is changing some names for reasons unknown, but the photos are the same. I haven't purchased any bulbs from Japan in more than a year. This phenomenon reminds me of the craze for "broken" tulip bulbs, which were actually afflicted with a mosaic virus. I think that the bubble will burst when enough buyers experience failure with these tiny bulbs.
