The hydrangea is a hydrangea paniculata. Is the picture as of yesterday?

The second rose might be Belinda's Dream.

My hydrangea are not white like I see on the other hydrangea. Even the small one forming. Maybe they are burned because I fertilized them.

Where are you located generally? How much sun does your panicled hydrangea get? How long has it been in the ground?

Where I am in central NH panicled hydrangeas can take full sun, but where Luis is much farther south in TX, they need some afternoon shade. Different cultivars have different shades of lime green to cream or white changing to pink or tan as the flowers age. Your flowers are aging now to pale lime with just a bit of pink. If they are new plants, they should look better next year and in successive years since they are working to grow roots for the first season or two. I don’t find I need to fertilize my panicled hydrangeas for them to grow well as long as I keep them mulched.

I am in NJ zone 7a. The hydrangea get sun in the morning and afternoon shade. I planted this shrub last May, so roughly 3 months ago.

Lowe's website for your store should list what plants they sell mine does. Perhaps that could jog your memory. Regarding the paniculata, there are many varieties so paniculata is just the type of hydrangea not the variety. The best thing would be to post a picture of the entire bush as well as flowers once they start to age. If they go lime as mentioned by NHbabs, they could be a variety called Limelight which is very large. I have white ones that go Rose which are called tickled pink. I have no idea on the rose but someone else might soon. I love my hydrangeas and I think you will too. The paniculata is going to take more sun so it seems like you have yours well-placed.

Just an FYI, but 'Limelight' starts out lime colored, then fades to a creamy white and eventually turns shades of pink, rose or even darker. As do virtually all varieties of H. paniculata :-) Flowerheads are also not large enough or dense enough to be Limelight but there are literally scores of varieties in different sizes and all make great garden plants.

Unfortunately, I already looked at the Lowes in NJ. It may be difficult to "id" the hydrangea for sure. They sell some of the panics online under names like Green Hydrangea, etc. The panicle picture may thus be Limelight or a similar cousin. They may have sold it in the store likewise, as Green Hydrangea for example. Oh well. Hard to tell how big it will get though. Limelight can get 10' but there are compact versions of Limelight around that get 6' or so. At least, the care that is needed will be very much similar. They will like the sun in NJ, even full sun. More sun makes the lime color fade faster to white so, locate where you want. Mulch, keep the soil as evenly moist as you can. Reduce waterings from high summer levels in the Fall and reduce further to once a week or once every two weeks when it goes dormant. Stop watering when the soil freezes and resume in the Spring at Fall levels/frequencies. No need to fertilize much; if you do, do it in Spring. Amend the soil if it is alkaline.

Dying to hear anyone's thoughts on the rose! There's something about it that look so familiar. Is there any more info about it that you could share?

Those are actually two different roses. One is deep pink that dye to a light pink. It has a very weak smell but pleasant smell. I purchased it as a barefoot at Kmart two years ago and this is the first time it flowered for me. The other is is a light purple I purchased at Lowe’s 3 month ago and all the tag said was “purple rose “ and I’m dying to find out what kind of roses they both are

Sometimes those generic Lowes roses have a tag down in the soil. Did you find one like that?

No I did not . I even went back to the store with the tag and ask them what kind of are those, they say they don’t know

Okay everyone will likely think I’m nuts but here goes. I have a Kordes rose Bajazzo that I’ve had four three years now. In the first two years it has given me some very different colors. The petals often roll back like yours. They almost always have a white stripe somewhere. I indeed have had hot pink blooms from it. I’ve also had horrible orange blooms and I like orange. Now in it’s third year the color is more stable it blooms hot salmon pink.

If your rose is Bajazzo the color will change. If it stays hot pink then it is something else. Bajazzo fades a bit as the bloom ages but not much. If you look at photos you will not see many showing hot pink. It does bloom hot pink at times I promise.

Another thing it is a short climber so for me it throws long skinny canes. The canes tend to lay flat on the ground if not supported or wrapped on something. At least when it is young. So if your rose is upright or bushy then it Is not Bajazzo.

TT, what was the description on the first rose? Was it in one of those colored pots that just said something like pink? I ask because I did look through a bunch of them a while back I'm trying to remember what the purple ones were, but it's escaping me at the moment. Ever calm any being weeks roses so perhaps you could pull up their catalog and take a gander.

The first one does not appear to have rugose leaves, but perhaps more pictures would help showing those aspects a little better. The color reminds me of Carefree Beauty but I don't know how that Rose opens. Just trying to think of what roses might be body bags.

The purple one at Lowe’s just say purple rose but the dark pink one was a barefoot and I misplaced the label and it was two years ago
