It's lovely!! Age means nothing in stuff like that....patterns were passed on for generations. My grandmother made a few...unfortunately I don't have one. she taught me "fancy crochet"....the other grandmother taught me to crochet baby jackets and bonnets and booties. The lace knitting grandma only went to 4th grade and didn't read well. But in those days patterns were passed on as samples...she had a Martha Washington sewing box full of rounds and strips of patterns, very like how quilt patterns were passed on.

I know that you can't date a piece by it's pattern but I was going by when people died and were married which might be an occasion for a table cloth. It wasn't for a 25th for when Florence was born and even if she married young, her mother would have been gone before she celebrated 25 years. Just musing, I suppose. It will be well loved by me!

It really looks lovely. I like to crochet tablecloths, but finding a pattern for my oval table is not easy. I also make table toppers and use them in various ways. Fun projects. I am glad someone who loves this cloth took it home with her. It would be a shame to just dump it.

I have two, probably made by my great grandmother. They don’t fit my table, but they add a wonderfully quaint touch in each guest bedroom where they are used as a throw, at the foot of the bed. Both rooms have antique furniture.
