Beautiful rose, Bob. I see why your wife had to have it. Do you have roses in pots and in ground? How easy are they to graft? I used to grow a lot of the old, hardy, garden roses down at the old farmhouse but now I am down to just a few. They need to be tough to survive our harsh, cold winters. They sure smell wonderful when they are blooming. I dry some of the buds and petals to use in tea and for potpourri.

This one is,bad part of roses, they like to be fed all the time, it,s almost impossible to overfeed them. Grafting roses easier then what you are doing now. My garden center has only specialties roses, they are all $35.00, pretty high for my blood.Dr.Heuyi rootstock are your best ones to use.

If you belong to a roses forum, you can get cuttings in exchange. I am growing this guy in pots because my wife does,t wander in the yard all that much. This rose gives a very strong odor, I,m keeping it on our deck, no deer to deal with.

Bob, it will be very nice having it on the deck where you can enjoy its lovely fragrance and blooms up close. Deer love our rose bushes. They do not seem to mind the thorns.. lol
