More Estate Sale Linens

I got three more boxes of linens and felt like I got real treasure:

The first box

I really bought it for these:

I love and USE old embroidered pillowcases. There is just something "homey" about them!

I may or may not keep the rest of the stuff that was in this box. If just for the pillowcases, I got a bargain!

Second box: A smaller Quaker Lace tablecloth which seems unused, a embroidered luncheon set (which I think I will keep) and a three piece set of embroidered linens that I think may be for a chair.

I am certain I'm keeping the luncheon set for it is sweet but am unsure about the other.

Box Three: A large and looks unused Quaker Lace cloth plus two linen clothes. I think I will part with the linen clothes (I'm not much into colored linens) and this lace cloth will replace the one that I've been using for years -- it's starting to show it's age and I have sort of been looking for a replacement when I go to flea markets . . . of course, at flea markets, if you find one for $25 that is cheap!

Use the colored cloths under the lace.....And it appears you have an embroidered "chair set" or perhaps a "sofa set".I want to see more of those colored embroidered things in the front of the first pic....sort of rose and one with some blue design....embroidered? Norwegian embroidery?

I love the delicate crocheted edging on the pillowcases. Looking at them makes me wonder about crocheting an edge to the new set of king sized sheets and pillowcases I bought. Strangely, there is no hemmed edge on the pillowcases, so I think they would lend themselves nicely to crocheted edging. It is just making the holes evenly placed that would be the challenge.

In grammar school -- 4th & 5th grade -- our quiet time project was embroidering Huck Towels. I can't believe how lucky we were. Boys and girls alike worked on it. We'd choose our colours, draw a sample idea and then the teacher would approve it and start it for us. The boys were as happy doing this as the girls and we had so many hours of being engaged in beauty and peaceful sewing. It was so wonderful to choose our colour combinations. I wonder if we were the only class in the system that did this and we owe it all to one teacher.

Since I've stopped acquiring my vintage passions because I basically ran out of space, I greatly enjoy viewing other people's lucky finds.
