brass bed with white balls

Trying to convert a bedroom into a guestroom. Have a queen size brass bed with white porcelain boy is in perfect condition. Any ideas on how I could make the room look more contemporary with this bed? Also, are these beds still in style?

Can you sell it? You really don't need a bed frame. (In my adult life, I've never had one.) Without one, it will look more contemporary.

I would spray paint it black, including the balls. That style of bed frame is out these days.

Or spray paint it fire engine red. Go for funky. With the Marimekko print bedspread in the top one

This one is fun too, go way over the top with black, red and white. this one has very traditional headboards painted and mixed with strong geometrics. Do something like that but paint the entire bed.

I’d spray the balls black and see if you like it.

Nothing you can do is going to make this bed frame look contemporary. Put your contemporary style into the bedding or sell the bed frame.

I agree contemporary is not happening with that bed. Sell it get a nice new contemporary platform bed and some awesome hotel style bedding and decor for a guest room. IMO guest rooms are nice when done like a 5 star hotel room especially if you want contemporary. If you google contemporary guest rooms you will get a lot of ideas.

I think painting the brass will not last long. I bet you can get some money for it.

Is it brass or is it brass paint? Someone gave us one of those. It was brass paint. With decals on the "porcelain." I tried to make it work for my spouses sake.

I kinda like tozmos ideas. Or just give it away. That's what I did.

I like your bed. I've always loved the combination of brass and navy blue. Try something like these pictures. The last one is not a brass bed but I think the whole look will work with a brass bed too.

You've maybe owned the bed for a while, unless you love it, time for a change rather than trying to make it something it isn't.

I think you can make your guest room have clean lines and project a luxurious up- to -date inn feel.

The way to do it is to avoid the grandmother look.

No fussy flowery pattern in bed linens or curtains or towels in the adjoining bathroom.

Do what a luxury inn or bed and breakfast would do.

Get the very best white bed linens you can afford in high thread count white.

Don't get a lot of fussy little bed linens or little pillows.

    That reads little old lady.

Get two large European square pillows and shams for them in plain squares, no ruffles. (or three if they will fit across the bed)

Get regular pillows with pillowcases, also white, as may as will fit across the bed.

Get a dust ruffle for the box spring that is tailored, not ruffled.

If you want color on the bed, you can get a colored duvet cover, or you can get a white duvet cover, and then then an additional thin bed throw or thin blanket for the foot of the bed that is colored.

A down or down substitute for cold weather, and matelasse for cooler weather works well.

You down need a cover for matelasse.

You can sew on a colored trim for the matelasse bed cover or not.

Recapitulate that color (which is your room accent color) elsewhere in the room.

It can be the edging on the curtains, it can be in the chair, in the artwork, etc.

Or the curtains can be a print of white and the accent color with sheers underneath, just like in a hotel if you want to do a double curtain.

The color should be a color from the ball on the bed. It can be green or blue. Whatever you think will go with the rest of your home and the view out of your window.
