This is disturbing. Did anyone notice this? that looks like some kind of rot. I looks like something I encountered a few years ago.

I'll look for the pics of a similar problem, but my computer died recently and I was unable to recover everything.

The white stuff: your soil is alive, and grows stuff. You should be happy. Most people have mulch around so don't see what's going on right on the surface.

These hostas bloomed beautifully during summer but are showing holie leaves now especially the ones near that ground. Also there were pieces of it on the ground. Didn't think to save an photo it. Also these hostas haven't ever been divided that I recall.
