I don’t think that mirror works in that location. I’d suggest something like this with your staircase/wall condition

There are rolling wood dollys intended for plant stands. Put one beneath the basket to raise its height.

I like the basket but have you considered painting the outlet cover to match the wall so you don't have to make design decisions around it? Also, what about a small dish for keys, sunglasses etc?

Keep mindful of what is reflected in the mirror. If it’s not something pleasant, I would change the mirror out for something else.

I second painting the outlet the same color as the wall. Lamp would be okay too.

You have warm tones with cool paint colors. Step back, and consider your options.

It's too busy. Ditch the table, paint the outlet and add a ficus in a large basket.

The rug looks like it complicates things. Is it needed or maybe just a smaller rug right at the door.

I think you did a great job ! I like all , just add a lamp . It's a nice mirror ..and it's good to see one selves once more before heading out ..i would put some sort of tray ..silver /glass .."for keys , sunglasses , etc. I even like your basket ...because it's a great place for gloves and winter hats ..or instead you could also put a little bench underneath the table ..or a shelve unit covering the electric outlet ..or fill the space with books ...you have many options ...but I like what you did ..put what YOU need and enjoy !

I think the mirror is too dark and boxy next to the stairs. I would consider an oval with a thin metallic frame. It would look lighter and lift the height of the area. I do like the basket below.

It is bad feng shui to hang a mirror facing a door. If you pinch salt over your shoulder when you spill it or announce your next visitor will be a man because you dropped a knife, you’ll enjoy reading another culture’s superstitions.
