Hey everyone! I’m working on a little project for my new house... bought a craigslist oak pedestal table and am transforming it into something a little more modern a la pottery barn/restoration hardware... the base of the table is being chalk painted and I’m staining the top to get a weathered wood look. Looking for reasons as to why my stain is giving off this striped effect. I sanded thoroughly for hours with a random orbital sander and sanding block. Used wood conditioner and have followed the directions for applying the stain. It’s just odd how the discoloration is in perfectly straight lines... what gives? Can I even it out by applying more stain to just the lighter areas? I’m new to this and want to hone in my skills so am hoping for some good insight from those more experienced :) thanks!!!
