May I join you?

Hi, another long-time GW home decorating reader looking to join the conversations on this side. I got addicted to GW back in 2006 when there were so much great help and advice on most of the forums. Things have changed a lot. So has my life--just dropped our youngest off to college and have an empty nest for the first time in 32 years! I find myself reading/lurking a lot on this side now and I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a voyeur, so decided to introduce myself with the hopes of joining in now and then. Thank you!

Hi, teeda! I remember you from "the other side", I don't hang there much either now. And like you, I just dropped my youngest at college...take two for him as he had some issues that kept him from finishing last year.

    Join the fun :)

Thanks all--one of the reasons I decided to dive into this side has been the number of threads I felt I could really relate to--from aging parents while launching kids to what we're currently reading or watching. Looking forwarding to participating!

I hope your student's move-in went well, and that you have caught up on the laundry at home. My first task when we got home was to strip his bed and bath linens lol. When he asked me to send his shower slippers, I found them in the closet...and discovered a duffel bag full of empty Frappucino and lemonade bottles lol! So over the summer every time I asked him to bring down his empties, I should have checked the recycling bin!

Delilah, we were texting about the slippers he forgot and I brought it up. He said "that's neither here nor there". Well they are going to stay "there " till Thanksgiving. Then I will trail him and them to the garage!

Thanks again for such a warm welcome. Bpath--I laughed at the bag of empty Frappucino bottles. I bought a case of Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee and couldn't figure out where they all went--assuming my husband was taking some to work. I am going through her room now (by the time we left it looked like a bomb went off in there) and found 8 of the bottles in a plastic bag. I think she intended to get them into the recycling, and I imagine that your son planned that as well!

Too funny about the bottles - kids! :D I remember your name as well, and the empty nest syndrome. DH thought I was going to be a basket case. Did not happen! While nothing takes the place of seeing them in person, cell phone calls, text and FT help. Not to mention time flies, and she will be "home again" in no time, even if it's just for a few days. We do worry about our babies, no matter how old they are!

Welcome! I too remember you. Glad you are able to join us. My Nest will ever be full with DS unable to live on his own and the assorted nephews coming and living with us or periods of time. It's okay with me for some reason but it wouldn't be everybody's way of life. Plus I have two dogs and one cat:-)
