Rooguchi is long blooming

I found photos of my Rooguchi well in bloom in mid-July and it is still going strong, so it has been blooming for at least 7 weeks. I have others that bloom more fully, but I think this one takes the cake for length of bloom. I have read that others have disease issues, but that has never been an issue for me with this plant, which gets no care other than twice annual weeding and whatever rain falls from the sky.

It is planted where I see it from the kitchen window, and I really appreciate the view.

I was just going to start a new thread about the 'greatness' of Rooguchi but I see NHBabs has it just right. This is an outstanding clematis in so many ways. I have many clems but so many of them look like c%8p by this time. But Roo' foliage is still pristine and in terms of flowers it looks much like it did in over 6 weeks back when it was in full bloom.

There is no doubt that it will look just fine into September.

Mine has been blooming since early spring and is full of mildew now in spite of the fact we are dry here, only now have we had much rain at all.

Mine has been blooming nonstop for three months,the foliage looks pretty good. My Betty Corning stopped blooming about two weeks ago, blooming for over two months on that one. Love them both.

I think stress from lack of water contributes to powdery mildew. I saw one of the clem nurseries selling a version of Roguchi that does not get PM so easily. I am going to try to get it. Mine got PM really early in the season this year and did not bloom much. Also I planted it too close to a rose.

I have had several plants get powdery mildew but never have I seen it on our Rooguchi in the 4 years we have had it in the ground (fingers crossed).

I do love this clematis but last year for the first time our Rooguchi did getpowdery mildew :( and it wasn't for lack off water as it was quite a rainy summer.. It is for sure in an "action packed" section of the garden i.e. so many plants in such a small space.

My new-this-year Rooguchi sadly has terrible powdery mildew. I had it planted in too shady a location earier this year, but have since relocated it to a sunny spot. The new growth is green for a few days, but then succumbs. I’ve used Neem oil with little success. Any ideas what I can do? It gets good air circulation. Thanks!
