It can be done but it may be difficult to install since both materials vary widely in thickness.

Thank you for responding. Can a board backing help with the thickness? I'm sure the difficulty will make it much more $$$ to install? I'm really worried about making a mistake. I'd rather have plain ledger stone than a mess! Would I be wiser to just do plain ledger stone? Thanks again.

I think you would be wiser to just do plain ledger stone. For one thing, what if one day stainless appliances are completely out of style, and you want to replace them, but now you have a metallic backsplash that you have to live with?

I'm having trouble picturing ledger stone as a backsplash (but love ledger stone, in general, so I think it might look amazing) -- what kind of cabinets do you have?

In my opinion, part of the beauty of stainless steel appliances is that they are in effect a "neutral" color and go with anything, so I don't think you need to "tie" the appliances to the backsplash. Also it sounds as if you have more than one stainless appliance, so they are already tied together, in effect.

My cabinets are oak, (a while back here on Houzz I was debating whether I should paint them. I thought I'd paint them at the time, but got lazy and scared, and decided to use a product called "Howard's Restore-A-Finish". It brought them back to life, and with 5-6 coats it even reversed the sun fading on the sides facing the windows! The countertops are going to be a gray quartz with sparkly quartz crystals in it. The floors are a off-white/beige/gray tile and the ledger stone will mostly match the floor, but also have some of the same color as the oak cabinets. The silvery metallic listello I was hoping to use would pick up the stainless appliances but also pick up some of the "sparkly-ness" from the countertops. I'm a weird bird in that I like both the rustic look as well as the modern - combined. :)

Hmm. I'm still gonna encourage you to leave out the listello, but if it's what will make your heart sing, then go for it!

If you're sure you're going to live there forever, go ahead, but if there's a chance you might move in the next five years, don't do it. I doubt there will be one person in 1000 who will appreciate your quirky backsplash, and it will be very difficult for them to re-do it without completely ripping it out.

Well, if my heart has the same singing voice as my regular voice I better silence the singing! Nobody wants to hear that either! Thank you for the sane advice. :)
