I wonder how well the new cats would do, if I switch them from syriaca to tuberosa? That way I could just put the potted plants in the cages.

The Monarchs in the oaks are probably resting as they migrate. It’s called roosting, and they will not leave eggs, because they won’t enter a reproductive state until after they winter in Mexico.

So am I. I cut a whole top of a common milkweed with a cat on it and there was just a stick left today. I have 2 cages with 2 cats and 1 potted tuberosa in each, and all the cats should pupate in the next couple days. Something's been eating my Viburnums and Pentas. I will have to investigate.

The pentas? Maybe it’s the Tersa Sphinx moth? Most adorable caterpillars if you ask me.

Just the tips of the Penta leaves are eaten. My Viburnums are chewed up bad. Hummingbird Clearwings use those for host plants.
