Lower Level Stairs Flooring Dilema
Comments (3)This can be done either way. We usually base this on what type of runner you want to go with. If it is a finished edge runner I would almost always recommend a full wood step. If it is a more traditional carpet, that is lets say continuing from the second floor, an end cap installation looks great if done properly....See MoreWood flooring dilema!?
Comments (11)The only way you will know is to bring wood samples into the space. I would try to get a really close match to the beams and railing, but if it's obviously close but not quite, then I'd consider something else. I wouldn't do a third type of wood. Your living area has definite mid century modern lines, so you could do a large format tile throughout and it would be appropriate. Also appropriate would be to rip everything off the floor and polish the concrete. I would use the art as inspiration for the room, though I would hang all three pieces vertically side by side. Then I would go very mid century modern with the furnishings....See MoreTwo different colors of hardwood on the main floor? dilema or no prob?
Comments (5)If you are going to use different colors, then the materials should be different. As in put tile in the kitchen and use the same wood throughout the rest of the house. Otherwise, have a pro sand down and refinish the existing wood to match the color of the new wood that you wish to install. Or remove the existing wood and replace with the new prefinished choice. Or continue the existing prefinished wood into the newly done spaces. Don't have a patchwork of colors, finishes, and textures. It's choppy and disjointed....See MoreFlooring Design Dilema
Comments (2)Lay the pergo as you would a hardwood. Tile and hardwood have been working side by side for hundreds of years. I like the tile idea for kitchens. I'm always nervous about laminate in kitchens. Pergo is a great name in laminate but you never want to push your luck with these floors. In N. America we still accept "kitchens and bathrooms" to receive their own flooring choice so I'm not overly concerned with how you've done it. I like that you have been concervative with the kitchen floors. It will work in the long run. Pretend it is hardwood and run the floor in what ever direction you want. Remember to use expansion joints (transition strips/thresholds) through door ways (like hallway to bedroom transitions)....See Moredsciontijr
