Wonder if to much rain. I have been seeing that a lot in FL.

You talk about cooler temps and blast it I am to get in low 50's at night this week

It is VERY dry where I live on Maui.. Lucky to get 10 inches of rain a year.. I have been watering heavily lately, though, because our daytime temperatures have been in the low 90's recently.. The plants were drying out very rapidly.. Since I wrote my question, I looked at another plant which is also making odd buds and it seems that all three plants are the same Mr. Ko seedling type.. So now I am wondering if this is a genetic oddity.. All the other plants in my collection are producing normally shaped buds, for the record.

So Lane didn't get you. Think I will go ask if the ones I saw were

I have some that have made those strange flowers on occasion but the majority of the time produce great normal flowers. So I'm not sure what causes it.

HI Paradise I have some that do that when its hot and dry or a little stress on the plant i don't think it's anything to worry about
