what's ailing my pepper plant?

i was gifted this just a couple of days ago and the leaves are starting to go pale/yellow and just today started wilting. the previous owner is not available to tell me anything about their care regimen. it has been rainy for the last two weeks, and the soil in the container is not overly dry. thoughts?
