I was glad to finally be able to get out again. Took a ton of pictures. Here are a few.

I feel very lucky. The center went right over us. With the wind and rain being the worst on the East side of it, it really wasn’t a problem here. It’s mostly the plants like Zinnias and Goldenrod that are laying flat. With it being the middle of September anyway, I don’t worry about it.

I'm so happy you and your huge collection of caterpillars were spared Iris. That spider is so adorable, I want to give it a big hug.

I have a soft spot for jumping spiders. All of the chrysalis I know of are fine, too. We just had about 30 mph wind, but it is still amazing how strong this little glue connection is. I just saw one little caterpillar wandering around a bit aimlessly on the fence. Bent down a branch of the oak that’s right there and he went on. Hope it was the right tree for him.

Glad to hear that Florence spared you Iris. Great pics, as usual! What is the seed pod or is it a chrysalis of some type that is pictured under the Giant cat? Also, what is the hairy looking thing in the chain link? Love that spider!

I'm not positive, Iris, but your datanas are most likely angus' datanas. The second picture has to be sawflies with all those legs, undoubtedly dusky birch sawflies.

Rhonda, it’s a slug caterpillar. The hairy thing is a Tussock moth cocoon. I just recently learned that some caterpillars use their own hair in the cocoon. How cool is that? Thank you Sherry! I will have to look up the sawflies.

This ones took me at least 5 minutes and half a dozen mosquito bites to focus. Fennel is hard!

Wow Iris, you photos are breathtaking! And, you have such unique critters. What is that on the fennel?

I had a Swallowtail lay eggs about 2 weeks ago. So hopefully it’s the right occupant coming out of there. This is a great time of the year here. Seems there is something new (at least to me) to see almost every day. This hornworm was just casually strolling across my walkway this morning. Can’t be too hard to find out what kind... so much fun.

Also, why doesnt the female tussock moth have wings? Have to look that up.
