Help with my selections

These are my choices for the master bath. I'd like a classic/timeless look.
The shower walls and bathroom floor will be Themar Venato Gold porcelain tile in polished. The hex. will be the shower floor. The vanity cabinet will be gray. The Quartz counter top is on top of the cabinet door in the picture. Question: should I get a solid Quartz or does this one compliment the tiles? Suggestions will be appreciated.

I think it is too much personally. I’d do a plain-ish white quartz. What is the floor? What is your hardware?

I actually like it! But please add some color.... bold paint or towels or throw rugs... something to spice it up a bit...

but thats just me.... I love a lot going on...

The floor is the 12x24 tile under the cabinet door (same as shower walls). Ignore that black burgundy strip on the right of the picture. It was next to the counter I took the picture on. I'm not sure about the hardware yet. The paint on the walls will be blue. How bold for paint color Debbi?

This bathroom is in my idea book for my upcoming renovation. I love the veining on the walls and floors but think the less veining on the countertops really meshes well.

Yes, that quartz looks like the other selection I picked out. I'm going tomorrow to get a sample of it. The background is more white with small gray veins running thru it. I just didn't know if the background color would be to white to go with the floor tile. I love the mirrors in that picture too. Need to decide if I want one large mirror with glass frame or two small ones. Vanity will be 65" long with 2 oval sinks. The contractor suggested one large mirror with a gray frame around it that matches the gray vanity. Suggestions appreciated.

Polished porcelain tile on floor will be very slippery when wet and a fall waiting to happen.

    Great love the large veining!

marylut, yes I considered that but I will be using a bath mat and rugs for the vanity so there shouldn't be an issue with water getting on the floor. The matte porcelain tile looked to blah for the look I want.

I would reconsider the polished porcelain tile.

You are running late as you stride into your bathroom in your socks and you might end up flat on the floor looking at the ceiling with a concussion, or worse.

I don't think that much grout is recommended for a shower floor. You want the water do go down the drain. That much grout is going, on a hex too yet, put you in line for a shower floor re-do perhaps sooner than you want to think about. Use that hex as a trim somewhere on the wall? Maybe someone else knows more about it so they will offer help here. I would put the larger grain on a larger surface, like the shower wall, and the smaller variances on the smaller surfaces. Gonna need some soft yellow towels and rug to warm up that room in the winter ? :) It's looking pretty C O O L... Good luck with all your decisions. Great input ideas in this post!

No redsilver, you have to use a small format tile like the hex for the floor or it will be slippery. I don't like small format tiles, but was forced to use them for our showers.

I like your choices, but like others have said, it may be too much going on. I am doing a plain white quartz countertop on my gray vanity so nothing competes with the marble in the shower.

Went to look at faucets today. The Quartz with what finish?
Polished Nickel, champagne bronze or chrome?
Those aren't the style just showing the different finishes. Suggestions?

Here is a picture of another Quartz that is white with a slight veining to it. (Bottom right below gray cabinet. What do y'all think? Will that look better than the first one I posted with the large veining?

I like your first countertop. gold faucet, hands down. it's beautiful w/the gold veining.

I don't think it will be too busy., as far as the vanity top and flooring. Too gray and neutral, yes, but not busy looking. If you did a wood vanity, like a walnut, or reclaimed oak or something RH-ish, it would lend some warmth and texture to the space.

The black oak would actually look beautiful w/your marble choices. I have this one, below, in my own bathroom. I went w/gold knobs and matte black faucet. Super White is my countertop.

As for the shower, have you seen a photo of this tile once it's up?

    maybe these will help

I actually liked your second choice of quartz and chrome finish on faucet. If you choose to go with your first choice of quartz then I would pick champagne gold finish for the faucet. You may want to think about adding some accent tiles on the shower wall. Also make sure that the shower floor tiles are small in size which is easier to work with when grading shower floor.

Beth, Are you saying the gold faucet meaning the middle picture with the champagne bronze faucet? Should I get one large mirror with a glass frame or wood frame to match the cabinet? Thanks for the pictures. Mine would look similar to second picture you sent.

I love the champagne gold w/your first quartz pic. it's beautiful. If you want a wood frame, do a real wood frame, not the gray one. Otherwise, just do beveled glass mirror, .For the sconces or light fixture. should be the same gold as faucet, or close to it.

If you’re doing the first quartz, champagne fixtures and wood frame (all of that together will be very cool). If you’re doing the less busy (which is what I would do but I’m a scaredy cat) the chrome and beveled silver/chrome mirror. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, just depends on how creative you want to be.

Please offer advice on balancing the space(see pictures). 66" vanity will be installed. Hole where medicine cabinet was will be walled over, the light will be removed. Space to the right of the door will be a cabinet with a counter (hutch type). Which design balances the space?
1 large mirror or 2 mirrors? 1 light installed in the middle or 2 fixtures (lights) installed above each sink?
    Thank you!

Best lighting for beard shaving and makeup application is from sconces on each side of separate mirrors. Depending on room and lumens provided from the sconces, you may need additional lights over each mirror.

vjs,,,I think you could do either. I like wall mounted faucets because it gives a bit more room on the countertop and makes cleaning easier.

examples of two/one mirror(s) with double faucets, on similar sizes to yours.

you could also do one large sink, with double wall mount faucets like this one, and a single mirror

This one is mine but it's a 72" vanity. the mirrors are 20"x30", the sinks are 16" from the edge to the center of the bowl, and there is about 26" space between the two sinks. (if that helps at all)

I agree with Beth. Both options of either one large mirror or two mirrors will work well. Go with whatever option you like more. The only thing I would like to add is that large mirror gives an illusion of large space as it reflects more light.

I'd like advice on what grout color to use with Venato Gold porcelain tile.
I'd like an elegant look for my new master bath.
Here's a picture of the tile with a sample of Fusion Pro colors Snow White and Beachwood. I'm open for suggestions.

I hear there is a gold colored grout now. What do you Pros think of it with Venato Gold Tile?

Look into Bostik Dimension grout - it is a glass filled premix grout and it sparkles... it is really nice looking

It will be far more classic without the clash of materials. Too many different materials will keep eyes busy looking for some quiet.

Thinking of painting the walls SW Sea Salt. Tiles are porcelain to mimick calacatta marble, soft white, taupe/ gray and gold, the vanity is a light gray. Most pictures I see on Houzz have Greige or Gray walls with this color scheme. Suggestions?

Sea salt is a beautiful color. However it can show differently based on the natural light the room gets. It’s up to you though what kind of effect you would like. If there’s plenty of natural light in the room then it may show blue undertones. If there’s no natural light then it may look green. Once your bathroom is done then test the color on the wall. Notice the first picture, it’s looking more blue. The second picture shows more green with no natural light in the room.

The 66" vanity cabinet has been installed. I measured for 2 mirrors with sconces in between but there isn't enough space for that set up unless I do very small mirrors, which I don't want. So going with 1 large beveled mirror with 2 light fixtures above each sink. The light fixtures are 23" wide (3 globes on each light). Are the lights the right size or should I go smaller (2 globes on each light)? Thank you.

You need to determine lighting needs in terms of lumens. Length times width of the bathroom area (where you stand at vanity) to be lighted, then multiply that by 70 (for bathroom). If vanity area is 6’ by 5’ your light fixture needs to give off 210 total lumens.

    vjs12 thanked marylut

I was going to say that my new bathroom is very well lighted and has more than 10 times that number of lumens, when I re-read the formula. That is when I realized you mistyped the total lumens, leaving off an 0!

We just grouted our brand new Venato gold porcelain honed marble tile floor in our remodeled bathroom. The floor tiles are 12x24 in a 1/3 offset pattern. The corner shower floor are the 2x2 inch squares. The shower wall tile is a glossy white subway. There are 2 niches which have calacatta mosaic tiles inside. Initially I was going to do either Snow White or Beachwood on floor, and beachwood on walls. I was hesitant about Snow White on the floor however with concerns it would get dirty too quickly. The beachwood did not offer quite enough contrast to make the wall subways stand out well enough. The perfect solution turned out to be......Oyster Gray (Fusion brand). Looks great with all 3 tiles in the room. It has just the right pale brownish gray undertone that looks great with the veins in the calacatta. The cabinets will be espresso brown with streaks of a lighter brown. Caesarstone Blizzard for counter and pony wall. Wall paint BM pale oak. Colors all work nicely together.

teckelhound,,,very nice,,,but I sure hope you don't have a lot of hair or shower products! that tiny niche would only hold one shampoo bottle of mine!

Beth, don't you fret, the niche in the photo is the "artsy" one that will hold maybe a starfish or a candle when we have company. The "working" niches are on the inside of the pony wall and can hold really tall bottles on one shelf, and maybe razors, small items on lower shelf. The bathroom is not yet completed but when it is I will post full before and afters.

    vjs12 thanked teckelhound

lol. well that's good. I also have my 'working niche' in the pony wall. didn't make it quite tall enough for most of the items, so I had to buy pump bottles/containers for the shampoo and such. (shown here in the 'pretty niche'. )

I consider this more trendy than timeless. Grey is timeless. White is timeless. All grey and white cabs/quartz is very trendy IMO. I’d go more simple and white for truly timeless. Subway tile has been around a century or more. In short I’d go more simple and more white. Less grey and patterned.

Here's the bathroom remodel so far. Still need glass in upper cabinet doors, crown molding around room and fixtures installed. The walls are painted SW Sea Salt (which I love). The shower has cement board and waterproofed with Schluter system 6' up the wall, around window and niche for those interested in that. I used the color, Snow White, Pro Fusion grout. Also did Starfire glass with Shower guard. I'm having a hard time deciding on the mirror. If I do a gray framed mirror which matches the built in and vanity, will it look like too much wood? Will it look unfinished if I do the beveled frameless mirror? Suggestions please.

Our new bathroom is not yet complete but this is the progress so far. This Tryon 25x38 mirror was from Amazon , and I'm very pleased with the quality. Don't know if this would be wide enough for you but I liked the way it introduces silver in the room instead of more wood.

Here’s pictures of the remodeled bathroom. Thank y’all for your ideas and suggestions. I decided to do 1 large mirror. It makes the bathroom looks very spacious. I decided to keep the traditional looking lights above the sinks. We added crown molding around the room. We are happy with our choices.
