with new seeding I WOULD TRY TO WATER 3-4 times a day for about 12-15 minutes those seeds need to stay moist .

That is a problem with peat moss. I believe it becomes hydrophobic due to a fungus growing on it. Golf course greens get a fungus that has the same effect of preventing water penetration. You could spray the peat moss with shampoo at 3 ounces per 1,000 square feet to try and break the surface tension of the water and allow it to moisten the peat moss.

Had you written in here before starting the project we could have saved you a lot of work. Grass seed germinates best when at the surface. Yours is buried into the raked soil and then covered with peat moss. Much of it will come in fine. Even if you don't spray the shampoo I would not worry about the dry peat moss at all.

Well I tried the shampoo trick and that seemed to work. Peat Moss was getting throughly moist.

5 days after seeing I was getting a lot of growth across the entire repaired areas.

However, we are currently having one of the worst rain storms we have ever had and my wife just texted me pictures and said everything is washing away. She said there is no new grass along the curb, which was the worst spot.

So when it stops raining, I guess my only option is to rake and smooth everything out and put down more seed.

Its the last week in September here in Connecticut. Hopefully it stays warm enough for these seeds to grow.

Any other suggestions to help salvage this mess?

One reason to seed early in the fall is so you have time to reseed if something goes wrong. So, you're good to go.

The turfgrass pros at Rutgers Co-op Extension recommend seeding be performed in northern 1/2 of NJ between August 15th and October 5th. I wonder what their Connecticut colleagues say; the OP is in Connecticut.
