Marica - so far the plants have bloomed once a year. Yes I can cover the greenhouse with a few layers of shade cloth. But still aussie summer sun is very harsh. The greenhouse has 2 windows, one on each end, I also roll the door up as well. I think I should have put the greenhouse in the shade, I might have to move it under an old shady tree.

My plants live in partial shade. I must water twice a week for the low humidity. Not sure how your humidity levels are for the summer.

Mine are starting to go crazy still throwing out mushy ones i stuffed up repoted to early 4wks ago killed about 20 babys i will post some pics in a couple of weeks:×)

Surprised you had mites "due to humidity." Here mites -- particularly spidermites -- are an issue when humidity is very low.

Peter - my plants seem to get spidermites in the greenhouse when it gets hot, as there's not much ventilation. The mites seem to like hot and humid. Most of my seddlings are bold as I had to pluck their infested leaves. I was thinking to get a gazebo from bunnings to pur over the greenhouse for some shade.

Kind of you to offer, Peter, but spidemite season is approaching fast. Once temps get consisitently low enough for the furnace to be running regularly, my indoor RH will drop to about 15% and spidermites will become an issue for many of my houseplants.

Interesting article Agartta. Don't know how effective such remedies actually are but perhaps Peter will give it a go and report his findings. Was surprised the writer really didn't give much of a mix/ratio recipe. Pity that.

Bring back DDT it will get rid of them :×)

Simply rubbing alcohol and water in a spray bottle seems to be some peoples mites remedy.

Lonnie - I prune them at the onset of spring. They seem to thrive better and have less stress.

Hi Agartta and Pete, hope your plants do well this Spring. We have just started repotting. I repotted my babies yesterday. All babies came through Winter well....no rot. They were dormant through Winter with the cold here so haven’t really grown much....just starting to leaf out now.

No casualties with my babies, except for one....a magpie decided it wanted the smallest one for itself....crazy bird. The same crazy magpie also pulled all my plastic labels out of the pots and dumped them on the ground and even chewed some into tiny pieces. I guess it didn’t like the look of the white plastic labels in the pots. Madness :D

We still have most of our bigger plants to repot yet, so will be busy doing that for the next couple of weekends :)

Rachel - good to hear from you. My plants are doing good now the weather is warmer. I lost a few mature grafted plants to root rot, and a few seedlings. I pruned all the mature plants as they had spider mites on top. Also most of my seedlings are bold atm. I just sprouted a new tray of Mr Ko seeds, mostly yellow colour. Im still very adicted and in love with adeniums after 1 year of growing. I will post pics soon.
