Installing sound resistant windows

last modified: 8 years ago

My new sound resistant windows are being installed in an addition (two insulated glass units). There are gaps between the block wall and aluminum frame. The contractor is putting a couple small thin piece of wood, maybe 3”x3”, in between these gaps where screws are needed to secure the window frame. He is then applying caulk over the surface of the gap, leaving a significant air pocket between the frame and block wall. Should this gap should be filled with some sort of insulation? Thank you!
