Coffee Table Crisis

Looking for a coffee table and end tables to anchor the space and bring it all together in a cozy way. My husband would like to see a wood coffee table.

    Like the large window.

For cozy, add a wide table <12" deep behind your sofa and add a wide rectangle planter (w/drain tray) atop it with live plants in it.

Is that square foot/leg rest attached to your sofa?

If not, you could invest in a large heavy wood tray for atop that piece when you need a coffee table. Otherwise, choose a small round table for your coffee table so you don't end up with a knee knocker in this relatively small room.

You could add a narrow table or a narrow lamp table combo beside either the sofa and/or chair.

I think for traffic patterns in that narrow space, you would be better off having two smaller tables.

I'm not a designer but with that dark sofa and arm chair, I would probably opt for a coffee table that was visually lighter. There are some gorgeous metallic bases and there are lots of different tops I have seen - marble; glass; distressed surfaces; even wood.

That sofa is 100” long. It’s a left chaise. I had originally thought of a metal frame/marble top table.

Like the idea of a big wood tray to bring in the wood for my husband’s preference. And wood side tables.

Is your couch a reclining couch? Looks comfy. If reclines, coffee table probably won't work. I would either put C tables on both ends of your couch or end tables with lamps on either end....put your pretty floor lamp over by the chair.

My couch is the 100 inch left facing chaise Sloan couch from interior define. It is in Sapphire velvet. Very beautiful and very comfortable

Love the idea of two smaller tables or including wooden tray or side tables

I'm currently looking for two smaller coffee tables - here are two I came across I am considering - they can be used together or apart.

Here's a small table with wood tray top

The nesting coffee tables you show are a bit too frilly for the heavy upholstered sofa. Here are some that have cleaner lines. Can't tell the finish on the chair, so consider that and matching the finish on the coffee nesting tables. Do continue to look for something with an open frame to balance the sofa and let your rug show through.

As crowded as that room is, I'd opt for a pair of wood topped "C" tables instead of a coffee table to knock your knees on. Try a ceramic garden stool with the chair. Just showing these FYI, not necessarily the style or color you'd want.

It shouldn't be too big. Maybe you could get a pouf(very large one)

Actually, the room is large (

long) with a dining area at the other end and lots of dead space in between that I hadn’t figured out yet. Was hoping a substantial coffee table would anchor the space. Console table is naked. Haven’t decided finish yet. Need planters to the right of that to balance with window. Need something underneath to detract from doggie door (weird place for previous owners to put it - formal area?)

If it were me, I would flip the couch with the back of the couch easing into the dead space (Unless it could be seen down a hallway.) I think the couch against the window tends to provide the least best use of space.

In the dead space, I would get something like a round rug and a round table on it. The doggie door would be not obvious, because the eye will be drawn to the round table ---with something like flowers on it.

    Something along these lines.

Didn’t think of the table in the dead space idea! That’s great!

Couch would be visible diwb hallway if I moved it to the long wall that egrets the dead space.

Couuld move it so left chaise is under the window and long side is on the short wall that is adjacent to hallway opening.

Would I need a rectangle coffee table if I put a round table in the dead space?

You could do a rectangle coffee table and maybe a side table that was round. I don't love any of these coffee tables but you can see the key is they are "light" not chunky. Chunky will be too heavy in your space.

NOT chunky like this last one. Too heavy in your room.

The rug is too large and shrinks the room. Can you exchange it for a smaller one?

I'd do something open and gold. With a smaller rug.

Raising the curtains will also help to enlarge the space.

Raising the curtains is on the to do list. These tables are nice.

I think the original rug was ok but can you turn is 90 degrees and take up part of the dead space? Also it would be very nice if the curtains had 2x as many panels and could go all the way to the corner? It would look much more cozy and lux. I like the second table.

Can’t turn the rug because then i would need to turn rug under DR table and the 2 rugs would touch.

Curtain rod is going to be raised and longer, fuller panels added. The ones in pic were placeholders to decide if I wanted gray or another color

May rotate sofa 45 degrees to right and put against right wall. My husband wants a wood table. I wanted metal as I thought would be lighter. Found this one. It‘a wood and metal. A compromise. It’s rectangle, but if I put a round table with flowers in center of long room in the dead space as another poster suggested, rectangle would be best.
