Kitchen paint and drapes

We have white Formica cabinets, light gray back splash and counter tops both are also Formica. The floor is a dark green granite. I would like to make the kitchen more modern. I need suggestions for paint color and new curtains. I was thinking a light silver paint with a sage silver panels. Or maybe light gray paint with gray and white panels? we have 2 windows, sliding glass door and a skylight so the room is fairly bright. Clearly, I need help!

Have you considered no drapes for a more updated look. I think I would be looking at some type of shade/blinds for both slider and window. If you choose drapes for the slider, stack it all on the side away from the cabs; cabs look really close to the slider.

gtrat suggestion! Thank you so much...

I vote for nothing on the slider. Doesn't look like you need privacy so just leave it open. Maybe just a simple valance on the dining room window, but no decisions until you get it painted. Those pics don't make it appear very bright, maybe just the time of day?

As for paint, I would be inclined to add color (not the peachy look that's there now, though!). Maybe a shade of green or blue? Or a light grey but with a brighter accent wall? What do you like? Do you have any inspiration photos?

The floor looks like it would be crazy slippery when wet, so I'd be sure you have non-slip rugs in the kitchen traffic areas!

I think your kitchen looks good, but the dining area needs to lose all curtains. Maybe white cotton curtains, hung 6-8 inches above and wider than either side window so as to not block the windows, with modern clean lined black or nickel hardware. Add a sheer underneath if you need privacy on the window. Get a clean lined light fixture that will work with your contemporary chairs. I have this one below in my foyer and it gives good light and is a style chameleon. It reads as ALMOST matte black. Take down the small decorative items on the walls - they’re undersized. I think you can rock the contempo vibe the chairs and cabinets have going on, especially if you change out your cabinet hardware with a black and angular knob - maybe square.

Thank you so much for your feedback. The floors are very slippery when wet, I love the suggestions. I do need privacy on the sliding door as anyone walking by will see straight into my kitchen By my driveway. we live in a city so lots of people walking. the window in the dining area requires privacy as well because I can throw a penny into my neighbor window. Houses are very close together. I absolutely love the idea to hang any curtains wider than the window and also changing the hardware. And I will certainly be on the look out for non slip carpets. I was thinking a light gray for the walls, I don’t have inspiration photos. I look at so much on line and it’s overwhelming. But my taste is turning to simple and light.

I completely agree about the curtains!
