I chose SW's Salty Dog and am really happy with it. It dries to a very pretty navy blue without looking black. The color sample swatch does not accurately portray the deepness of the blue, so don't go by that alone. Either way, navy blue is a great choice!

I know Hale Navy is a classic. It really depends on your house/lighting and other components. I have two rooms painted Benjamin Moore's Narragansett Green and they are a beautiful calm navy.

@Johnny Moore, I'm curious as to what wall colors you chose for the kitchen and other rooms that open up to the Salty Dog dining room blue?

Are you planning to change the furniture as well? Your furniture has lot of red tone to it and combining the current furniture with navy blue wall is going to be high contrast. I would suggest use a color snap tool available on BM and SW websites. It will help you visualize contrasting colors. Hale Navy by itself is a pretty color though.
