Wrap backsplash around window area?

I'm getting ready to get backsplash installed in the kitchen. The tile installer asked if I wanted to wrap the backsplash into the window opening. I can picture that if the backsplash only goes upto the cabinets and first (future) shelf on the left. But we'd like to have the backsplash go all the way up to the ceiling. So I'm concerned it might be too much tile to wrap around the window? My first choice would be to case around the window opening and have the backsplash end at the casing. But the cabinets are too close on the right side and we're going to have shelves to the left. What is my best option? The last picture is the backsplash we chose. Thanks in advance

Your window has a lovely view!

If you plan on tiling up to the ceiling, I would not wrap it around the window. I agree that it would be too much, especially if you also plan on putting any kind of window treatment up.

My old backsplash was wrapped around the window up to the cabinets. I am going to have the new one installed soon and I keep waffling back and forth on if I want to wrap it again. I am leaning toward not to and just painting that space.

Since your backsplash is busy, I probably would not tile to the ceiling, but I tend to like the blingier backsplashes in small doses.

Gorgeous kitchen! It's going to look great with that backsplash. I agree with the above poster and wouldn't wrap it.

Since you can't fit casing around the window I would not use such a bold tile all the way to the ceiling. I would stop at the bottom of the shelf and run the tile at that height into the window. On another note: Your wall cabinets look lower than 18" off the countertop, or am I mistaken?

Main Line Kitchen Design, thanks for the advice. The cabinets are 17" off the countertop along the back and 15.5" off the trim piece if that makes sense.

OK that's fine. Looks closer than it is. Beautiful design by the way!

Omg I love that table and chairs! Can you share where you bought that? It’s perfect! Also, lovely kitchen and the backsplash will be gorgeous! Make sure you post pics when it’s done.

Thanks Karen! I got the table and chairs through a local furniture store but they're from Tov Furniture. I love the fabric, it's so soft and also water resistant.

another vote for no wrap, and ending it at shelf height.

Carolina, are you in Utah? The mountains and the style of homes... Your dining chairs are awesome!

oh my. I'd never get anything done but stand at the window...

Not that we don't have great views in my "flyover state" but LOVE mountains!

So jealous of your views! I'm in the Midwest where there's nothing but flat land and cornfields. I commented earlier but looking at that view again, I think anything busy on that wall window will distract from what's outside.

I had my contractor put the same Corian I was using for my countertop, on the window sill as well. I wanted to be able to put plants in my window without ruining the wood window sill. It's proven to have been an excellent choice nearly 33 years ago!
