It's probably due to all the rain. The ant baits works but it takes a few weeks. Leave them where they are. In the meantime spray any ant trails you notice with vinegar everyday. Eventually they'll leave.

I ordered Terro from Amazon as westoh suggested. I put it out in a few different spots and literally by the time I put the last bit out, the first spot was covered in ants. Hopefully they'll be gone in the next week, I have more plants outside that need to come in before the weekend.

Use a systemic drench of some sort to control any ant or other critter problems prior to bringing in the 'kids. Much easier if you use Bayer's Rose and Flower systemic (big box stores carry this) to treat just prior to bringing in the kids. Usually you want to do 3 treatments over a 3 week period, but even a single treatment will help to kill off any unwanted passengers/hitchhikers.

It takes time but follow the ant trails. It will lead to their nests. Kill the nest with ant poison.

Dryer sheets(bounce). I wrapped my hummer hanging strings with dryer sheets, no ants.
