Paint Design Dilemma Bedroom

Skimming, Primer, Other?

As you can see I peeled the paint down to the drywall. Moisture or humidty seemed to be coming through the wall. Would skimming be the best way to fix this and then using primer and paint? Or using primer first and then painting? Or maybe a different way? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The peeled paint is right below a window. So moisture is probably coming through the frame. The outside wall has siding on it.

Fix the leak first! Otherwise you’ll have the same problem again soon.

Suzie's right. Plus, fixing the leak may involve tearing out some of the wallboard anyway. No sense in wasting the time and effort.

After the leak is fixed, you want to get all the loose drywall paper off, then sand it. Get some Gardz and apply that over the damaged area. This will ensure that when you patch it, it doesn't bubble. Then, skim coat over the area, sand and paint. Also, I would caulk all the gaps in that window trim.

IMO the drywall needs to be replaced in that area right after you deal with where the moisture is coming from.
