No, not this time, Donna. Although visually, just at the moment it looks rather similar, as you say.

This came from an old-time breeder right down in South Australia. As far as I know, he was breeding some time before Maguire's farm started up.

I must say, I'm not overly excited by this one myself....but I may be proved wrong!

Mmmmm........ some may like it, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them that does.

The green netting is attractive, and the flower may improve with the next blooming, but I have many seedlings coming on now that I have to find room for, and this one doesn't really grab me, so I will move it on. At least it is a clean healthy plant, and could look very nice growing in somebody else's garden!

........I wonder what that 'Bright Pink' might have looked like?

I think there's potential here and would like to see how the shape progresses through the next few days if you don't mind posting more . I like the brush strokes on the inside of the petals and have experienced how drastic the color can change from 1st to second year, but like Donna said, not this year And if you have other seedlings ready to bloom and need space well... those are always tough choices :) Nice set up by the way. - Jody

Donna, Jody...here's the update....

The lovely bright orange in front ( looks a bit red in the photos here ) is from the same breeder, and also has that downward droop to the blooms. The orange is a lovely plant - probably just because it's orange! That makes it a winner for me!

Well, if you've got the room, give her another chance! Your orange is bright and cheery, I love it!

I really love the orange too, Donna! I'll give the large white-ish one another year and see what happens. It's genetics are so different to anything else available on the market here, so it might be worth a second chance. There are others of lesser interest that I can let go instead....I won't have much room left to me, if I don't get some of them away!!

Jody...if it was you, would you hang on to it as well, do you think? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a chance at another season, and see what happens.

Julie, I would hang on to it for another year if I could. I like the shape of the flower and I see a lot of potential if the color intensifies in the second year.

I also like your orange. It was only when I wound up with an orange that was a mislabel that I saw how beautiful the deep orange color is as it doesn't seem to be captured in photos. - Jody

Jody - I'll keep her for another year then- let's see what she looks like at the next flowering. She is rather large.....for her first flowering. Maybe she will impress with her size as well as some improvement on colour!
