Desert Adapted Low Litter Trees

We need to plant two trees for privacy. One to shield the second floor entryway at the new science building at North Point Prep. The second tree will block my western border neighbor who has put up a large patio cover and very bright lighting.

We have two Mesquite trees in the yard now and they are the perfect size and temperament. The problem is the litter. Ye gads! The beans and the leaves seasonally.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good, hardy tree for a xeriscaped yard that is low litter?

I would have mentioned mesquite if you hadn't said that :) I have a few different types of trees and I would say the mesquites are the least messy, or at least, easiest to clean up after. I blow off the rocks probably 2 times a year under the mesquites and that's it. My mesquites don't have pods/beans though so maybe a slightly different variety. My neighbor has a texas ebony and those seed pods are annoying to clean up.

Oh! both on my mesquites have pods.....millions of pods. I'll look for one that does not produce pods. Thanks Andy.

Wow. We are looking at some places in Congress. Pinetop/Lakeside too cold in winter. Wish I could afford a 'summer place'!

I will let you know about the winters. This was the best summer I have ever had in AZ. I don't think it got above 82. Growing stuff is going to be entirely different but I am up for the challenge.
