I’m really struggling with how to design our new build fireplace. There will be built in white shaker cabinets below, with 3, 2” white oak shelves above the cabinets on each side. I love the warmth of brick but want it to look modern and fresh.

Current thinking is to do a white brick halfway up with a floating wood mantlel. Not sure if the brick needs to wrap the sides or not. I also like the look of concrete mantel surround but not sure if it’s cozy enough. Trying to balance modern/warm and inviting.
