we need to see the space.

don't worry about the backsplash until everything else is installed. come back to it later.

as for the flooring,,,have no idea because I have no idea what your home looks like.

    That's Cristallo quartzite, yes?

I love this tile. 24x24 porcelain that looks like limestone. small grout lines, warm gray tones, works w/everything. tilebar.com

Thank you Beth and everdebz! Our cabinets and countertops are done...just contemplating on backsplash first and then floor last.

Flooring needs to relate to or match the rest of your home and its flooring. The BACKSPLASH is last. You started another post after the "tile search" post. There was no need to. And you keep saying "No subway" ...the coveted tile with brass accent "dots" was indeed a "subway." A subway is a rectangle. Comes in multiple sizes....and can be installed in several ways.

You already chose the star, in your TOPS. Also you range and hood. Yes? Am I remembering this correctly?

put an oak traditional floor , [your cabinets are traditional], and find the background color of your counter for a backsplash: crackle style light taupe, or soft light gray ceramic or default to light creamy white ceramic tile. I would not have picked the sleek handle for your cabinet [can you change it?]....and I assume the [style] of door shown is your pick.

herb flavor - Thank you for all the suggestions. We did not change out the cabinets (we are keeping the ones we've had). We will change the cabinet handles/pulls after everything else is completed, and welcome suggestions.

Jan - The rectangular [subway] with brass accents were only going to be accents, not full on, however we opted against them mainly because it wasn't a good fit for our kitchen. We've already purchased our range, but still pending our wall hood.

Subway tiles - regardless of the size, can only be arranged in a few different ways: zigzag, chevron, brick/interlocking...my husband and I are not a fan of any of them.

Our flooring, in the remainder of downstairs is neutral. The flooring in the rest of the house shouldn't be a factor in our decision as the kitchen and family room (the two rooms we are looking to change flooring in) are the only ones that are interlocking/facing each other.

We are considering simulated wood flooring, however not sure on finish/color.

IMO all the flooring in a home should match

What does NEUTRAL mean, Jora? Beige 12" Tile? "Simulated". What? Engineered hardwood, or wood look tile? Engineered hardwood IS wood. No to wood look tile if that's what you're thinking, with beige tile elsewhere....... big fat no.

A post ago, you were asked for photos of the entire space. You did not provide is my recollection. You are selecting in "isolation"' method. Forcing us to do same. Not a great idea, that method. At ALLL.LLLLL

Upload photos of the kitchen and the adjacent rooms. The entire "picture", if you desire meaningful assistance.
