Hoyas and Halloween

Hi everyone,

Well, all the plants are back inside for another winter. This time, I'm keeping a better eye on them than the past two winters. Going to monitor their levels of dryness and keep them misted since I get a lot of vines that wither due to both underwatering and low humidity.

Are you all ready for Halloween? I know I am. My community theatre Halloween party (that I'm in charge of) is on Saturday. Here's my costume. It's mostly handmade/altered. Broom and cape are from Spirit Halloween. The rest is from online, bought in different stores or Goodwill/thrift stores.

Brad - Great job on your Winifred costume, you found the perfect stockings too! I hope you have a great time.

When I was watching the movie the other day, I could help but repeatedly crack up over her lipstick (or lack of it)! Absolutely love it.

Thank you! I actually have had those stockings for a couple of years now. I planned on going as Winifred a couple years ago, but I went as the Wicked Witch of the West instead (and I used them for her, too).

Not only does she have a lack of lipstick, but Winnie doesn't have any eyebrows, either! Never noticed that when I was little ( I was three when this movie came out- but I don't recall seeing it in theatres, unlike Jurassic Park). Anyway, she was a lot of work, but I can see that my hard work is paying off: I'm getting compliments on it all the time! Can't wait until Saturday for the Halloween party with my theatre family!

What?! How did I miss her missing eyebrows! (Likely it was my lack of glasses!)

Way back then, I went to see it on the big screens with a girl friend, probably one of the first times the parents just dropped us off unattended.

I will have some fun on Halloween eve, hanging out with parents of kids that go trick or treating. Not sure what I'll be wearing yet.

Thank you, all! I'll be heading out tonight in costume, hopefully, with a couple of dear friends for some Halloween themed karaoke. Hoping tonight will be one to remember :).

I am very humbled by your comments on the costumes. They were a lot of work, but lots of fun to see come together. I don't think they're the best, but I am a stickler for details and tried to replicate to the best of my ability :). I'm not the greatest sewer in the world, but nothing came apart. I crocheted the corsets for Mary and Sarah, and my shoe covers. I made my necklace, too. I won't have the buck teeth for when I go out tonight, but I can still replicate dear Winnie's facial expressions without them ;).

    Happy Halloween to you all!
