I'd go with a gray that matches the darkest gray in your mural. Or a mustard (very popular now) to compliment the yellow walls but keeps it on the sophisticated side, which I think your mural is. I think the more faintly colored mural is lovely and softer and easier to life with than a stark black and white would be.

What room is this at least. Accent colors are chosen after the rest of the space is furnished not before. And we would still need to see a pic of the whole space .

I love this mural!!! What other elements are going on in this area? If this mural were in my home I’d play off of all the natural shading this offers with textured pillows, throws for the white furniture. I’d probably work in mercury glass lamp bases, dark tables, oh the list goes on. But - probably should find out about what your space is since this is about you and not me :D. I just love the shades of the mural. :)

I don't understand the concept of "accent color" in this discussion. There is nothing currently in the space, you are going to buy white or cream furniture, so it sounds like you've got a pretty neutral color palette going on. So there is no reason to throw some random color into this mix. What I think your problem is .... is that is a cool toned mural and your floors are unfortunately a very warm wood. So that does not match and does not look good. So you're going to need to put down a very large area rug to hide some of that flooring. And then just stick with the neutral colors in the mural .... creams, greiges, gray, black, etc. I can't really tell from this pic, but painting the walls yellow also doesn't sound like that goes with that mural (?)

okay we've moved furniture back in to this room so here are the best pictures I can find to give a true idea of the room and the mural. currently the drapes are beige, bedding is yellow and carpet is grey. I can replace all of this since I think none of it looks good.....just need some direction on how to make this room look good. the light is poor....only one window that doesn't get a lot of Sun. the mural is making this tricky since it's such a blend of faded colors. I truly appreciate the input!

The hops acknowledge or natural tan sweet colors seem to be 2 options. I'd choose 1 and really focus in that for walls and bedding and then work in an accent such as the bracing blue. With a contemporary mural such as that I'd aim for a tight color scheme to pull it off well.

I'd think about working with the sun-dappled forest theme of your mural by adding some greens and textures - both plentiful in a woodland. Green and yellow are neighbors on the color wheel. Adding a dash of blue would complete the analogous color scheme. For window coverings consider something that reads as layered and organic, eg: linen/cotton panels over matchsticks.
