Okay, my two cents worth. You can get new carpet, but with a fireplace and a master bath in the room, your carpet will get dirty again real soon.

I would go with a Luxury Vinyl Flooring.

Does not need to be a wood look, can be tile look.

Easy to clean, no worries of water damage. Then add an area rug to bring in color.

This will keep the walk way in the bedroom easy to maintain and give you the bedroom feel you are craving.

I think you mean vinyl that looks like tile? Might be a good compromise actually as a transition between the two "wood" floors. I like the hard floor look with a rug in the bedroom anyway! If you have a link or photo that shows what you mean, I'd love to see it!

You may be able to find a Luxury Vinyl that looks like wood, but has the colors of both the wood floors you are trying to connect.
